Happy Birthday, Tina: the musical!

Come celebrate my partner in crime, Tina Sixx's Birthday and witness Fresh Meat's reunion show with me on guitar! We're on first at 9pm followed by loads of awesome bands and good times. Wish Tina and Allison both Happy Birthdays, get sloppy and see me on a stage instead of behind the DJ booth. It's my first night "off" in awhile so I think it goes without saying I'm going to be making the most of it. I can't wait!

Info: Saturday April 9, @Hard Luck Bar (812 Dundas St. W.). Doors are at 8pm, I'm on w/ Fresh Meat at 9pm and there are cupcakes & party hats. Hats!

It's Friday! That means we are partying at Velvet Underground (510 Queen St. W.) and we are going to have more fun than Rebecca Black. Hobo With A Shotgun >> Must See!

"When life gives you razorblades, you make a baseball bat covered in razorblades" is just one of the many lessons to be learned in the epic new movie, Hobo With A Shotgun. I for one am a fan of the lessons you can only learn from a film that uses plenty of gore and style to tell it's grisly story about a hobo who decides to clean up a wildly corrupt town with nothing other than, well, a shotgun. I have no doubts that this is going to achieve major cult status and beyond which is especially rad coming from a few guys from Nova Scotia. I had a blast watching this film (cue cheesy "Hobo With A ShotFUN" comment) and think this is what you need to do this weekend. See this movie.

BLACK & BLUES

I can barely contain my excitement, my ALL TIME favourite bar manager has JUST OPENED UP HER OWN BAR. My homegirl Jasmine used to manage the one and only QUEENSHEAD Pub, as well as 751 and without her, who knows if I'd be dj'ing! She helped me get my start by trusting me to know good tunes, and let me DJ The Queenshead without ever even hearing me spin. So because all good things must come full circle, it only makes sense that I would be lucky enough to bring some killer tunes to her new bar.

CRAWFORD is located at 718 College St. just west of Ossington and right by The Mod Club. You'll also recognize some of your old 751 staff favourites like Ian Bobby & Jenna who have signed on as co-owners and shit, the only thing more exciting than that is coming to dance to killer 90's R&B downstairs w/ DJ HJ and motown & 1950's dance party favourites with me upstairs this coming Tuesday. OPENING PARTY! Don't miss it!!

Twenty Eleven!

It's here at last! A new year and lots of new stuff to look forward to. I'll share a couple of Christmas highlights (like getting a 1964 press of Gloria Jones' single, "Tainted Love") and a few more via pictures as well as update you on where you can find me dj'ing this month!

I'm going to be found as your Friday night DJ over at The Velvet Underground playing 80's, 90's and current rock n' roll. It's going to be one helluva good time and the dance floor is going to be the hottest place in the city that night. It also doesn't hurt that my partner in crime, Tina Sixx is going to be serving up the drinks so shoot me an email if you want to get on the guestlist.

It's Mess Around time again and this Saturday, Jan. 8th we are bringing our night of all danceable garage-soul-punk-rock n' roll-dance crashers to one of the most laid back, fun spots in the city; The Cloak & Dagger Pub! Rob and I will be mixing things up and even spinning some good ol' vinyl so you don't want to miss out.

Oh yeah...there's also a little BOX SOCIAL you might know of on the last Thursday of the month w/ Yvo Boom at 751 on Queen W. and you can always catch me on a low key Sunday night over at Disgraceland playing whatever we feel like from the best preachers of the 50's, 60's, 70's and beyond.

Finally...Christmas ruled. I got everything I could have wanted and then some but most importantly got some time to spend with the family and the most amazing bf a gal could hope for. Here are a couple of quick Christmas day highlights (complete with Christmas morning bedhead!).
